Budget London; Bike, Boat or Train

Cheap ticket offers and more

There are plenty of ways to explore London on a budget that includes cheap cycle hire, cable cars or options for travelling down the River Thames. We’ve put together our favourite money saving options below to help you plan a visit to the UK. Whether you want to explore the River Thames by boat, ride around the city on a bike or enjoy a bird’s eye view over of the city from cable cars, we’ve got it covered.

The Thames Clipper

The Thames Clipper allows you to take in the sights along the river including the Tower of London, the London Eye, Houses of Parliament & Tower Bridge. This hop-on-hop-off service provides you with a method of travel that bypasses the need to navigate either the London Underground or busy city buses. Running at a fraction of the price of more costly river cruises, the Thames Clipper offers you a mode of transport and a sightseeing tour all rolled into one.

Whilst there is no commentary during your trip, if you know your sights of London, then it remains a cost effective option. Running from Putney to Barking Riverside, there are 22 stops along the route that includes the London Eye, Battersea Power Station, Westminster, London Bridge City, Tower, Canary Wharf & North Greenwich.

Santander Cycles

The Santander Cycle hire scheme is open to tourists & residents alike and offers you a great way to explore London on a budget.  We particularly enjoy making use of these bike to explore the cycle paths located within the Royal Parks. There are two charges running on these bikes;  a set daily access fee & a usage fee that is dependent upon how long you have the bike in your possession.  Simply sign up, pay your access fee & then it’s down to you how much the bike ride is going to cost..

This scheme is particularly useful for short journeys a so it’s best to return your bike to a docking station as soon as you have completed your journey as you can always pick up another one later.

Budget London; Views of London
